Miloslav Gajdoš has devoted his professional career, spanning several decades, to instrumental pedagogy and has worked with students across generations. His extensive expertise and 50 years of experience have enabled him to adapt his teaching methods effectively to diverse age groups. Gajdoš is internationally recognized as a distinctive figure in the field, and his didactic works and publications, which he continuously developed and refined throughout his career, represent a significant legacy for future generations of double bass players.
The first edition of Gajdoš Double Bass School, published in 2025 in the Czech Republic in Czech, is based on the Selection of Double Bass Exercises and Etudes in the Primary Positions, which Gajdoš wrote in 2011 for beginner double bass instruction. While the original publication included several adopted exercises and etudes, the new edition replaces them with Gajdoš’s own compositions and arrangements.
This English edition, published by BumbleBee Notes Music Publishing in 2026, is a faithful translation and copy of the original. The only differences are the organization of the introductory material, the placement of the table of contents (What’s Inside), and the additional information at the back, highlighting the importance of the Czech double bass school that Gajdoš’s method so strongly represents.

The first book contains: introductory information, parts of the double bass, standing with the instrument, holding the bow, open string exercises, preparatory and instructional exercises, etudes, and several performance pieces, including Suita Barocca by Miloslav Gajdoš.
